Show/Music: Dollface

What: A show about a girl who has to learn what is means to be friends with women. Also the soundtrack is amazing.

Why: This show is the answer to “What will I ever do with myself now that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is over?”
Every few years a new show comes along to capture what it is to be a woman, and we have lots of gems from over the years. We have Designing Women, Broad City, and everything in between. Now we have another gem in that highly secure crown jewels hall in the metaphorical Tower.
Okay now I’m in love with the idea of there being a metaphorical Tower of… Women? I’m not sure what it should be called. But, instead of Anne Boleyn spending her last nights before execution there Harvey Weinstein is there getting a dremel tool to his nails (a new torture I have since realized now that I get my nails done regularly).
Now normally I would edit out the last rambily paragraph, but I honestly think it fits with this show. There are many moments of visual metaphors in Dollface. Jules is guided through life by a “Cat Lady”, played by Beth Grant (of The Mindy Project) and is constantly imagining games show, therapy sessions, and new reports that all help her process and navigate her life.
Just watch this show, and if that is too much for you, check out the sound track.
